My Views of Teaching

I am from Middlebourne, West Virginia which is about an hour and thirty minutes from Fairmont. I am interested in teaching Spanish, which means I will most likely be teaching high school level students, but I would love to teach any grade level. I believe learning a second language can be very beneficial to people of all ages. As a prospective educator I feel societal trends, issues in education, and our development as teachers directly relates to our beliefs and our beliefs create our philosophy and our philosophy creates our classroom. This means that as we progress as teachers what we once thought was important to be taught might not seem as important anymore. Our classrooms should change with the passing of time and not stay in the past, as technology changes we as teachers are responsible with the challenge of making necessary changes in our classrooms to ensure that technology is being used to better our students learning experience. I feel children learn best through interaction, and I would love to be able to one day connect my students with students in a Spanish speaking country so that they our experiencing the language in a fun and interactive environment and can learn what life is like in another country. From my understanding the Spanish speaking people our very helpful and accommodating when people from other countries make an attempt to speak their language and I believe my students would find that reassurance encouraging, because learning another language can be very intimidating.

  1. An inspiring and very true quote! As teachers we succeed only when all of our students meet their potential!
